Breeding Contract for Ferguson Barrel Horses

to the stallion named _____________________________________________ during the _______ breeding season. The breeding fee is:________. The mare owner agrees to pay a non-refundable booking fee of $150.00which is to be enclosed with this contract. The balance of the fee and shipped semen fee must be paid and a signed and dated contract received by the stallion owner prior to the shipment of semen. Shipped semen is $200/per shipment which includes a $50.00 refundable container deposit. The deposit will be refunded when the container is returned to the stallion owner but must be returned within 10 days.

The mare owner requests ______________________________________ as the approximate time for breeding.

The collection days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. All semen orders should be received by 12:00 noon the day of collection. Please also notify us when your mare begins to come in heat.
This is very important. If we are not expecting a mare to ship, especially on a Friday, we may leave for a show and semen will not be available.

2.If mare does not settle with the first shipment, there will be a charge of $150.00 for each additional shipment.

If after two shipments the mare has not settled the mare owner will need to have their own veterinarian perform a breeding soundness examination on the mare including a uterine culture and cytology. The mare must be breeding sound and a letter stating so from the veterinarian must be sent to the sire owner prior to any further shipments of semen. For mares over 16 years of age a uterine biopsy may be required at the sire owner’s discretion. It is advisable to have a clean culture before semen is shipped the first time to save expenses to the stallion and/or mare owner.

3. The Stallion owner guarantees a live foal. A live foal is defined as one that stands and nurses after foaling.

4.The board bill will be $6.00/day dry and $8.00/day wet. This must be paid when the mare is picked up from the farm. Due to limited stall space the owner should check on the availability or have semen shipped.

5.A photocopy of the mares papers must be returned with this contract. We would also like a photograph of the mare and resulting foal, which may be used for our future advertising.

6.The stud fee will be carried forward, and the live-foal guarantee is valid only if the mare owner has properly maintained the health of the mare, and verifies the mare’s pregnancy loss by providing the sire owner with a signed and dated veterinary certificate, clearly stating the following:

identification of the mare named here in
verifying the loss of said foal
verifying that in the veterinarians judgement, the mare was maintained in good health, including all vaccinations and dewormings as recommended by the veterinarian, including but not limited to Rhino vaccinations.

The stallion owner must receive this certificate within 30 days of the loss of the mares pregnancy and before said mare is rebred.

7.If the above stallion should die or become unfit for service before breeding mare, mare owner has the option to select a breeding from another stallion owned by Ferguson Barrel Horses. This must be mutually agreed upon by both parties.

8. The mare owner may not assign or transfer this contract without the consent of the stallion owner. Substitution of another mare may only be done with the consent of the stallion owner.

9. The mare owner agrees that Ferguson Farms will not be responsible for any accident, sickness, or death of the mare and/or her foal. Ferguson Farms will exercise judgement in the care and supervision of the mare and/or her foal. It is also understood that the mare owner will not be responsible for any disease, accident, or injury to the Ferguson Farms stallions.

Shipped semen will be sent only to mare owners veterinarian, designated here in by mare owner, unless otherwise specified and agreed upon by the stallion owner:

This shall be a binding contract when signed, dated and accepted by the sire owner. This contract is subject to the laws of the State of Missouri.
